Have you noticed that something different with the Olathe Recycling Program?
The Olathe, Kansas recycling program has undergone some changes that started January 1st. The small blue bins have been replaced with 65-gallon blue recycling carts on wheels, they look very similar to the regular Olathe trash cans. All residential solid waste customers will have access to recycling at the curb and the the cost is already included in your regular trash bill. Recylables will be collected every other week now, but with the larger bin, this really shouldn't be an issue.

How to prepare materials for recycling:
There's no need to sort.
Please use the bin's lid on windy or rainy days to keep materials dry and avoid littering the neighborhood.
Mixed paper should be dry. Please place in bin loosely, tied in bundles, or bagged in brown paper sacks.
All containers should be rinsed.
Labels are okay.
Please remove caps and rings from plastic containers
Place the lid inside tin (steel) cans and pinch closed.
Flatten or cut cardboard to pieces no larger than 4' x 4' and place under the recycling bin.
Remove waxed paper liners or packing materials from cardboard/chipboard prior to recycling.
For the safety of our employees, any materials set out that do not meet these guidelines will not be collected.
